Boku has an excellent mixture of land vegetables (including maca root, nettles, and nopal cactus), algaes, sea vegetables and probiotics, with a focus on maca and kelp. Boku is not bad tasting, probably because of the maca, flax meal and a bit of carob root thrown in for good taste (literally). Boku also contains a simple fruit blend that may or may not be worthwhile in a green drink, depending on whether or not you also take an antioxidant juice drink. Boku is a lot more expensive than other formulations at nearly $6 per ounce.
Manufacturer’s Description
Boku Super Food is not just a green food, it is a super food complex with benefits from essential fatty acids from flax seed meal, hormonal balance properties from Maca root, and phytonutrients from an array of fruits (which are also a great source of anti-oxidants) plus probiotics and enzymes. Every ingredient in Boku Super Food is 100% functional. It contains no fillers. Everything is in there for a reason. It is a true super food.

Pros
Well rounded formulation with plenty of kelp and maca, two ingredients that are high in nutrients and low in cost. Boku also has a basic fruit blend and a fairly neutral taste.
Cons
Boku is a good formula, but way overpriced at nearly $6 per ounce. You can get the price down by buying three at a time.

New Greens is a formula is a robust mixture that is well balanced and very close to what I would create if I made a general-purpose green drink. It’s greens blend is heavy on algaes (Spirulina & Chlorella) and alfalfa with a variety of grass juices thrown in. Land veggies include carrot, spinach, tomato, kale, broccoli, beet and others. All very good choices. It also includes a variety of antioxidant sources, including some herbs and fruits. The greens, veggies, and antioxidants make up 60% of the mixture, which is an excellent ratio. In addition, New Greens contains some special herbal additions worth highlighting, including royal jelly, pollen, green tea, milk thistle, tumeric, and ginko biloba. Again, these are all very good choices for a green drink. It has a small amount of fibrous meal in the form of flaxseed meal, apple pectin, and brown rice solids. Unfortunately, it also includes some guar gum, but not enough to complain about. Not everyone will like the taste, which is flavored with mint and stevia, so it’s sweet and minty with a hint of freshly cut grass. Over all this is an excellent mixture with a decent price tag. It weighs in at $3.97 per ounce.

Dr. Schulze has been improving his formula and presentation over the years and I have decided to completely re-write this review. First, Schulze has focused his formula on the most important greens (spirulina, grasses and dulse seaweed). After these ingredients, he adds some great veggie powsers (beet and spinach). Some acerola cherry and citrus peel (orange and lemon) provide some essential vitamins. That’s about it. This is still a simple formulation with a focus on what works. And the price is still among the lowest around at only $2.57 per ounce.
Schulze also added a bit of nutritional yeast, which is rich in nutrients, but many people cannot eat it due to bloating and gastric problems. Schulze claims that the yeast in this product is Non-Fermentable, so it avoids these problems. You can try it out and be the judge.
Manufacturer’s Description
“SuperFood Plus is my antidote for modern life. It is a balanced formulation of the most easy-to-assimilate, nutrient-dense microplants, herbs and foods on the planet. Junk food is just that, junk, and heating any food kills the nutrition. Add stress, anxiety, a lack of exercise and a lack of sleep and now you have a recipe for disaster, a health disaster.
My SuperFood Plus is the missing link in most people’s lives. Powerful nutrition protects your body, prevents disease, promotes healing, and keeps you looking and feeling younger. I have never met a person that didn’t need more nutrition.”
Taste
Grassy. Slightly earthy.
Ingredients & Nutritional Facts
Spirulina Algae, Blue-Green Algae, Chlorella Broken-Cell Algae, Barley, Alfalfa & Wheat Grasses, Purple Dulse Seaweed, Beet Root, Spinach Leaf, Acerola Cherry, Rose Hips, Orange & Lemon Peels & Palm Fruit in a base of Dr. Schulze’s Proprietary Non-Fermentable Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Yeast
Pros
Very good value. Strong in grasses and spirulina. Citrus peel is a good addition. Good formula for enhancing with your own added ingredients.
Cons
Horrible taste. Not the most robust of formulas.
Recommended Usage
Two rounded tablespoons of SuperFood Plus, added to your favorite juice or blender drink gives you 2 to 5 of most vitamins you need for the entire day. If you are not used to nutritional drinks, then for the first week use only 1 tablespoon of SuperFood Plus, and then work you way up to 2 tablespoons.

This formulation is quite cost effective. It is high in Spirulina and Chlorella, two very nutritive ingredients that don’t cost a fortune. The formula uses nutritional yeast (a kind of brewer’s yeast) in the place of a filler to bulk-up the mix. Some people will prefer this to the flaxseed meal, rice solids or apple pectin used by other formulators. Some won’t. The yeast is said to be non-active, so it does not cause bloating and other reactions and it’s highly nutritional. Other highlights are dendelion, kelp (great nutrition for a great price) and beet root.

Excellent price for a good formulation with an emphasis on spirulina, chlorella, grasses and kelp. No fillers, except that nutritional yeast is used for both nutrition and bulk.

An excellent formulation of spirulina, grasses and vegetable powders. Includes a nice selection of “extra botanicals” including bee pollen, ginko biloba, green tea extract, and Astragalus. Contains a slightly high amount of filler/fibrous ingredients, but that’s offset by an excellent price tag. Also has a fruit blend, probiotic cultures and enzymes. The mango powder, cayenne, and ginger are excellent additions. Overall, this is an excellent formulation at a reasonable price.

Pros
Contains a nice array of nutrient-rich food powders, together with a good selection of “special herbs,” such as Astragalus, green tea extract, bee pollen, vitamin E, milk thistle, ginko biloba, Suma, bladderwrack, rockweed, ginger root and cayenne. Good cost-benefit ratio and a very well thought-out formulation.
Cons
Some of the special herbs in this formulation may be herbs that you purchase separately, and so may be duplicating your purchase with this formulation. Many, however, are well chosen, in that you cannot get too much of them (green tea, pollen, vitamin E, ginger and cayenne for example). Contains Fructo-Oligosaccharides and an unknown fiber, trademarked “FiberAid”

The product called Miracle Greens was among the first on the market and is still among the best. Its land veggies include beets, cactus, barley grass, and carrot. It has large doses of herbs, including ginger, horsetail, suma, astragalus, Echinacea, milk thistle and others. It includes a few fruits (berries, cintrus, acerola cherries) and offers green tea, watercress, royal jelly, and aloe vera as special ingredients. It has the usual algaes and contains a lot of fibrous meal, which is a mixture of lecithin, apple pectin and flax seed meal, but overall, it’s among my favorites and costs $4.00 per ounce.

Pros
Good overall value. Strong in special herbs like green tea, milk thistle and Echinacea (if this is what you want). Includes royal jelly and some fruits. Formula is strong in anti-oxidants for a green drink.
Cons
You may not want or need many of the special herbs in this product (like Echinacea and milk thistle), if you make a practice of purchasing them separately. These raise the price tag of this formulation, whereas more nutrient-rich botanicals, like kelp, could have been used to raise the value without raising the price. Still, if you don’t purchase these special herbs separately, then this formulation may be perfect for you.
Recommended Usage
One serving in the morning or in the mid afternoon is optimal.
