Review: Blender Culture

September 26th, 2010

It’s pretty clear what Blender Culture Super Green & Super Fruit Blend is doing by looking at their label. They categorize their ingredients into seven different groups, or “blends,” and provide you with the quantity of each blend. The mixture is highest in its fruits (prune, acai, blueberry, pomegranate and others) with its grasses (kamut, alfalfa, barley and wheat grasses) coming in second. These two blends comprise more than 50% of the mixture. If you add the algaes (spirulina, dulse and chlorella), you have over 70% of the mixture in essential fruits and greens…and although I would have liked to see more vegetable powders in this mixture, you really can’t complain about that combination. You also get some special herbs (milk thistle, astragalus and green tea), plus a few veggie powders (beet, spinach, carrot and kale).

Overall, this formula has a lot of great nutrient-rich ingredients and it has a neutral taste, so you can mix it with almost anything. I had it with plain water and it was more than acceptable both in taste and texture. Of course, it will be even better with juice or chocolate almond milk. Now the price. At under $2.50 per ounce, this is one of the best deals going!
